The E-3 was engineered for a small group of high end experienced shooters, its advanced features, include strong alloy body, weather sealing, moveable LCD screen. The shutter has been designed to last 150,000 actuations. The E-3 also has features such as Images stabilization, a large pentaprism viewfinder. The Auto Focus system is very advanced, and complex.
The E-510 is styled for many who want performance in a compact size. This series of cameras is designed to be the middle road, of function and ease to use. It does include some aspects such as Image Stabilization, but lacks the complexity of the E-3’s focusing system, smaller viewfinder, and lack of body seals.
The E-420 is designed for everyday use. It makes a great step up camera from a point and shoot, as well as the perfect backup camera for the professional. It too does feature some advanced features, such as improved Dynamic range of the sensor, better White Balance system of the E-3, and even wireless flash system. However, it does not feature Image stabilization (because of lack of size of the body) its attempt is to be a very small form factor SLR on the market. It seeks to be easy to use, and place a lot of functionality in a small package.
