World's Smallest SLR
The E-420 is the smallest SLR on the market. I have used the E-410 for nearly a year, and I must tell you I am impressed. The size, weight, and feel, is more similar to a Film SLR than a digital SLR. For Olympus to produce a camera of this size, 2 things had to be sacrificed. First the battery life of the E-410 is around 450 pictures per charge. However, I have never killed a battery in a day. Second is the lack of an Image Stabilize system. With the E-4xx series, the simplicity of the size of the camera forbids the IS system to be part of the camera line. Simply, there is not enough room for it in the camera. However, with the ability to use ISO 800 or higher, fast glass (such as the 25mm f2.8), a wonderful flash system, and good shooting technique, this will in many cases make up for the lack of IS. In my opinion the E-410 is still to this date one of my top 3 favorite SLR's ever. I believe that the E-420 will also be a big winner, in size, functionality and performance. |
