Eddie's take on it
The original High Grade kit lens that came with the E-1, this is still one of the sharpest, brightest normal zooms available for 4/3. And because it was so ubiquitous, it is extraordinarily cheap.
This is one of the best bang-for-your-buck lenses for 4/3, and if you are on a budget, don't hesistate to use it as your regular normal zoom. Image quality is basically the same as the newer Olympus 12-60mm f/2.8-4.
Other than that, the Olympus 12-60mm f/2.8-4 offers greater zoom range and replaced this lens as the High Grade normal zoom.
There is an updated version supporting CDAF - the Olympus 14-54mm f/2.8-3.5 II.
