Startup and Shutter

When you start up the camera, if the 14-42mm is in the collapsed position the rear LCD reads "Please Check the status of the lens" you need to shift the zoom to the shooting position to begin shooting: This is a new ‘retractable lens’ design. When your done shooting, you can collapse this lens to make the whole package more portable. The LCD will warn you when the lens is collapsed.

I put together a little sample of the different shutters from the E-30, E-420, and E-P1 - Turn up your speakers.

Really the camera sounds good, but is not totally silent.

Playback mode

In playback Olympus had a famous Japanise DJ put together 5 different background sounds (I didn't want to post this because the firmware of the videos and pictures are not 1.0 and I think it may have violated my contract, but I will post this soon). All 5 background songs are very nice. The camera will play video and pictures, as well as you can record audio while taking photos which Mr. Terada played of a concert in Japan which was a very cool effect. The built in Mic the quality seems very good to me. It records in stereo 44.1 kHz, 16 bits per channel, Linear PCM audio. This is a ‘lossless’ wav file. I also like the ability to capture a photo when you click the video off, but I imagine that it will take some time for me to get the timing correct. The camera also offers now the ability to display on your HD TV the slideshow off a HDMI connection, which is cool.
